What’s the Fuss with Grad Photos Anyway?
Graduation photos are not only a way to celebrate your academic achievements but also a way to capture memories that will last a lifetime.
After all, the only other occasion where you'll be photographed this much is likely your wedding day. These photos are a tangible reminder of all the hard work you put in to reach this milestone and they hold a special place in your personal history.
Beyond that, graduation photos also serve as a way to share your accomplishments with others. You can use them to update your social media profiles or create prints to share with family and friends. They make for great keepsakes to look back on in the years to come and a way to remember the excitement and pride you felt on graduation day.
Not only that, but graduation photos can also be a lot of fun to take. They offer a chance to show off your personality and style, whether that's through your outfit, your hair and makeup, or the location and poses you choose. Your photographer can help you bring your vision to life and capture images that truly represent who you are.
So, as you're getting ready for your graduation photo shoot, remember that these photos are more than just a way to mark the occasion. They're a celebration of you and all the hard work you've put in to get to this point.

Preparing for Graduation Photos
Choosing the Right Photo Session
At T.Sedore Photography we’re keen on helping reduce the stress of grads and families! We do this by offering several photo session options so you can choose the best fit for your situation.
In Studio Focus Sessions
These focus sessions are held in our centrally located studio in downtown Grande Prairie. We’ll capture you in your cap & gown or your formal wear. With focus sessions, you’ll leave with the same great photos but save on session fees.
Full Graduation Sessions
These sessions offer a more custom experience. We book these sessions on Graduation days but offer the option to schedule them for another day allowing you to enjoy the experience, take your time and stress less. We’ll capture you in your cap & gown or your formal wear. We encourage you to bring props that represent you, too. Sporting gear, hobby supplies and animals are popular choices.
Event Photography Sessions
These sessions are great for large families and those who are going all out to celebrate their graduation day. Like a wedding, you’ll want to enjoy the day while connecting with your guests, not spend hours behind the camera making sure all your extended family members have posed for a photo with the graduate. Let us take care of documenting the big day so you can enjoy the festivities.
Customize Your Graduation Photo Experience
There’s nothing cookie cutter about your graduation photo experience with T.Sedore Photography. We’re ready to build a custom package perfectly suited to your individual needs and desires. Give us a call to book your free consultation 780-978-7875.
Not ready to invest in the full event photography experience but want to capture professional photos on the day of your event? Ask us about our on-site focus sessions. We’ll be onsite on your graduation day offering 20 minute focus sessions outside the venue.
Deciding on Hair and Makeup
Hair and makeup can make a big difference in how you look in your graduation photos. Consider choosing a natural, polished look that enhances your features.
If you're not confident doing your own hair and makeup, consider hiring a professional or getting help from a friend who has experience in this area.
Picking a Location and Time of Day
The right location and time of day can make a big difference in your photos. Consider the aesthetic you want to achieve and choose a location that reflects that.
A park or historic building can provide beautiful backdrops. Additionally, be mindful of the time of day when you'll be taking photos. Sunrise and sunset provide beautiful lighting, while midday sun can be harsh.
Working with a professional photographer will support you to bring your creative vision to life without sacrificing quality.
Communicating with Your Photographer
Before your photo shoot, we’ll be sure to communicate with you about your preferences and expectations. It’s helpful to share any inspiration photos you have!
We'll ask for your preferences on locations, outfits, and poses. This will help ensure that we’re both on the same page and that the shoot goes smoothly.
How to Pose for Photos
If you're not used to being in front of a camera, posing for graduation photos can feel awkward. A good rule of thumb is to keep your shoulders back and down, stand up straight, and keep your chin slightly lifted.
Remember to relax and have fun with it. Your photographer will also provide guidance and direction to help you look your best.
